SINGLE/MARRIED/KIDS:   Married 31 years, 2 kids, both married, and one incredible Siberian  Husky.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU AND YOUR WELLNESS HISTORY:  I am a 9 and a half year breast cancer survivor. The year before I had cancer I ran my first marathon. After my Cancer treatment was through I learned to swim and started racing in Triathlons.

FITNESS/NUTRITION/WELLNESS GOALS:  My goals are to enter into the next phase of my life as fit and healthy as possible.

YOUR FAVORITE CLASS AT ONE:  I really don't have a favorite. I love the energy of Zumba Toning and TurboKick.  I love how strong I feel after Kettle Bell and Power Hour.  I love how stretched I feel after Body Balance.

YOUR FAVORITE HEALTHY SNACK/MEAL: My favorite healthy snack is pita and hummus.

SOMETHING YOU'VE LEARNED ALONG YOUR JOURNEY THAT WILL HELP OTHERS:
The most important thing I have learned along my journey is everyone struggles with demons of some sort. You have to get up every morning and kick them in the butt!

WHAT HAS ONE SHARED WITH/TAUGHT YOU THAT'S MADE A DIFFERENCE:
The more you put in, the more you get out.
NAME: Lisa Phillips

AGE: 48

SINGLE/MARRIED/KIDS: Single, one grown daughter

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOUR WELLNESS HISTORY: Growing up I was active and good shape but I had that bad habit smoking. I actually quite smoking 11 years ago, however I started to put on weight, had some other life events that just added to me making bad choices. I decided to do the Brighton Tour De Cure 2 years ago and seen how out of shape I was trying to ride 25 miles, last year I increased the ride to 62 miles I did better but not in the amount of time I wanted to. So this year I plan on doing the 62 miles and finishing in a good time. With this goal I started to go to the gym more and then I found One Training and I am moving forward toward my goal.

FITNESS/NUTRITION GOALS: My goal is to live a health active life, make better choices each day and enjoying each day that I have been given.

YOUR FAVORITE CLASS AT ONE:  I am not sure that I have a favorite class I like the feeling I get after Turbo Kick and Zumba Toning make me motivated to do more. The burning that I feel after a Power Hour class of weights makes me feel good. I actually have learned to like the burn of the day after classes.

YOUR FAVORITE HEALTHY SNACK/MEAL: A pear and natural peanut butter.

SOMETHING YOU'VE LEARNED ALONG YOUR JOURNEY THAT WILL HELP OTHERS:  I have learned that you can accomplish anything you put your mind to if you are willing to put the work in. You have to act on your dreams, b/c if you don’t they will always just be a dream.

WHAT HAS ONE SHARED WITH/TAUGHT YOU THAT'S MADE A DIFFERENCE: I have learned you can do more than you think you can. You don’t have to be the best at the moves, you need to do your best and always push yourself a little harder.

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU AND YOUR WELLNESS HISTORY - I have been one of those people who work out  for months and then "life" happens, and I stop.  I am usually an all or nothing  type person, so when I am focused on working out I eat better, when I am not working out regularly I let myself slack.  I have been working out consistently for the last couple of years, seeing some results, but nowhere near when I need to be. I re-committed last December and was determined to work out AND eat well to make a lifestyle
change. I spend most of my time in the office where there is always food temptation, going out to eat a lot, and stressful days where I am in the office late.  On those days where I would work late, the last thing I wanted to do was come home and make a healthy meal, so I would make poor choices and stop somewhere on the way home.  Now that I have been planning ahead, I eat better and feel great!

FITNESS/NUTRITION/WELLNESS GOALS  - I have lost over 10 lbs pounds since December and have another 20 lbs to go.  I want to feel good in my own body and take care of myself for the future. I want to lose weight and tone up. I am truly making a lifestyle change that will set me up for continued success.

YOUR FAVORITE CLASS AT ONE - Turbo Kick and Personal Training with Jen!

YOUR FAVORITE HEALTHY SNACK/MEAL - right now I am loving the Luna protein bars, a new favorite!  I travel a lot for work and personal, so they are great to have with me.

SOMETHING YOU'VE LEARNED ALONG YOUR JOURNEY THAT WILL HELP others - I have learned that it is really about the food you put in your mouth. If you aren't fueling yourself with
the right foods, the workouts won't make much of a difference.  I have also  learned that you
have to incorporate weights with your workouts, all cardio and you won't tone.  Don't we all want to see that beautiful muscle definition?!  One other thing is that you need to surround yourself with people who are supportive of the changes you want to make. I find that when people know
I am working out and eating well, they make comments about it that are not supportive. The comments aren't directed at me, as I realize they are more about their own insecurities because
they aren't making the lifestyle change.  I have had a workout buddy in my office who really has made all the difference.  We support each other, challenge each other, and because of this many others in the office have also adopted healthier habits! We now have 2 times a day where
we block our calendars off and we go walk up 4 flights of stairs 4 times!

WHAT HAS ONE SHARED WITH/TAUGHT YOU THAT'S MADE A DIFFERENCE - you can eat what you want in moderation, if you are doing the work! Tracking my food daily has been key!  The 12 week challenge that we started in the New Year where we have been accountable to turn in our food logs is huge. You also have to know what your triggers are, so being able to share
that with my trainer and my workout buddy has been helpful - I mean I love wine!!  Jen shared that after you drink alcohol it takes 2 days to get your metabolism back to where it was, so if you can work out the day after you drink, this counteracts it.  So now, I still drink my wine, but also know I am working out the next day.

SINGLE/MARRIED/KIDS: I have been married for 5 years to my high school sweetheart.  We
are just about to celebrate our 14th year together!

A LITTLE BIT ABOUT YOU AND YOUR WELLNESS HISTORY:  My journey has certainly been an up and down battle (mostly up with respect to my weight, and down in regards to my
motivation). I have been in and out of fitness classes for the better part of 10 years trying to find something that would work for me.  I went through the "I'll do it at home phase", complete with an eliptical that my husband has so graciously transferred and reassembled at 3 houses now.
I am finally figuring out that just doesn't work for me. I was lucky enough to meet Jen in one of my first TurboKick classes.  It was that class where I figured out 2 things: I love Turbo, and I love the high energy and motivational coach that is JEN! From there I was hooked, but it still wasn't enough for me to set goals and actually meet them.  Fast forward to the beginning of 2013 where I discovered that Jen had found her passion and ONE was the place where I would be able to maintain mine.  I have been actively participating in the ONE Wellness Challenge since the beginning of the year as well as personal training once a week with Jen. This is much more than the old New Years Goals I was used to setting for myself...it is a wellness and lifestyle change.  Most importantly I feel I have the support from Jen, my team, and the ONE family that was missing all along.  I am accountable, motivated, and most importantly seeing a CHANGE!

FITNESS/NUTRITION/WELLNESS GOALS: 1. Become healthy with realistic weight loss goals 2. Learn how to eat healthier 3. Remain accountable to myself 4. Forgive myself for any setbacks in the past.

YOUR FAVORITE CLASS AT ONE: Turbo of course is the most high energy cardio
workout you will ever get.  The music is insanely awesome and the time goes by so fast! I do have to say that Zumba Toning is quickly becoming a close second.  I love the mix of dance and
weights!

YOUR FAVORITE HEALTHY SNACK/MEAL: I am loving the Simple Truth Greek yogurts and
with such a hectic work schedule, the Luna Protein Bars are a lifesaver (dare I say yummy too).

SOMETHING YOU'VE LEARNED ALONG YOUR JOURNEY THAT WILL HELP OTHERS: YOU NEED THE SUPPORT! I consider myself a very organized and motivated person.
I have set personal goals with regards to work, education, and relationships that I have no problem surpassing.  ONE has been the missing like to help me reach my wellness goals.

WHAT HAS ONE SHARED WITH/TAUGHT YOU THAT'S MADE A DIFFERENCE: I have learned so much in the  past 7 weeks...things that are so simple. Things from making healthier eating choices, tricks to incorporate food I still love, to the importance of water and
balanced routines.  Most importantly I have received the message that this is a journey and it is okay to have ups and downs along the way.  I don't need to beat myself up about making a mistake or two, but I do  need to reward myself for the progress that I am making.

TESTIMONIALS

Laura - In this past year I have become passionate about losing weight and living a healthy lifestyle. ONE Training has the ability to not only provide high energy classes that push me to strive harder but they concentrate on the total package; your diet, your weight and what  you put into your body. I’m not an individual that likes to exercise but Jen’s energy is contagious and makes me excited to attend every class.

Sharon - Almost a year ago I had a bit of a health scare. Basically I had MS symptoms but so far it is ruled out at this point (fingers crossed it stays that way.) As a result I gained some weight and my self esteem plummeted. Thankfully with the help of my Friend and Trainer I am feeling better than I have in years. I am 1/3 of the way to my goal weight (with trainer workouts and putting the eat-less-exercise-more concept to work) but more than that I have more energy and a higher self esteem. I am not losing weight to fit in a size 4 but rather I want to be in the best shape I can be in case I do have MS or some other disease. I will be ready for anything. I will be "Bringing It" everyday for me and more importantly my family!

ONE Anonymous Member - This is a great place to be. Workouts are effective, fun and challenging. It is unlike any other fitness, workout, gym. The staff cares about you. They are well informed on fitness and nutrition ... and share their knowledge. Friendly and concerned for your health. The studio is clean, warm and colorful. Amenities make you feel comfortable. They answer your questions, and treat you as an individual. I love it here and would recommend to anyone who cares about their health and physical fitness. You do it. No rows of endless treadmills, bikes or machines.  Many options for getting in shape, using your own body to do what it is built to do.

ZF North America Corporation HR - They make a great team, super energetic and make everyone really comfortable with the uncomfortable topics that come along with working out and weight loss.

Hitachi Automotive Corporation HR - Thank you very much for participating in our health fair!  The event was held  in hopes that it will provide an opportunity to promote and for our employees to review their health and wellness.  We believe that our employees had an opportunity to gain educational and practical information through your presentations and interactions.  I also received positive feedback from our employees about your services.  Without your participation and help, we could not have run the event successfully.
